During middle childhood, a child's short-term memory, also known as Working memory, increases.

Middle childhood is when a child is between the age of 6 and 12 which means that it ends just before teenagerhood. At this point, their brain activity increases significantly to the point where their working memory sees huge growth.

Working memory is short-term memory and allows us to retain information for a short period of time. This is important because:

 • It enables us remember tasks to be performed
 • It enables us converse with people
 • It enables us to read

In conclusion, the working memory of a child becomes much better in middle childhood and this allows them to relate better with other people.

In general terms the heart of any representative democracy is what?
kiruha [24]
I don't know if there were any options, but something that is at heart of a democracy is popular sovereignty: the belief that the power is in the hands of the people.

In a representative democracy those people are represented by some people chosen, to make the democracy easier to work.

alternatively you could say a body of laws: legislature or a constitution.

Why is the Athenian system called “direct democracy”?
dalvyx [7]

Greek democracy created in Athens was direct, rather than representative: any adult male citizen over the age of 20 could take part, and it was a duty to do so. The officials of the democracy were in part elected by the Assembly and in large part chosen by lottery in a process called sortition.
