Answer:

C). Mutations sometimes improve the chances of survival for a plant.

Explanation:

Within the genome of a cell, changes occurs in the nucleotide sequence of the gene from time to time. This change is referred to as MUTATION. It occurs via mistake during replication or induced by a mutation-causing substance (mutagen). Mutations are of different types and produce different results in the cell they occur. A common type of mutation is the SUBSTITUTION mutation, which is the kind of mutation where one or more nucleotide bases are replaced by another in the sequence.

Substitution mutation will change the amino acid sequence to produce either a protein that is same as the original, or different. The different protein can either be non-functional and therefore harmful or beneficial to the cell. For example, in a plant cell, the mutation can sometimes lead to a protein that confers resistance to certain environmental stresses on the plant cell. This MUTATION can be said to have improve the chances if survival of that plant. However, it does not always occur this way. It only happens sometimes.

Which of the following experimental data would suggest the presence of a transmembrane protein? The primary sequence contains st
Zina [86]

Answer:

All of the other answer choices suggest the presence of a multipass transmembrane protein.

Explanation:

The primary sequence contains stretches of polar and nonpolar amino acids, suggesting an amphipathic design.

This one could be, because of the presence of polar an nonpolar aminoacids. The phospholipids membrane have the same construction.

The protein has windows of the primary sequence with positive hydropathy values separated by windows of the primary sequence with negative hydropathy values.

The same here, having pieces of positive and negative hidropathy can be a sign of transmembrane protein.

The protein isolates with the membrane fraction of the cell rather than the cytoplasmic fraction of the cell.

This is discribing you a transmembrane protein

A heart that has to pump harder in order to effectively circulate blood is likely to undergo which type of cellular adaptation?
nexus9112 [7]

Out of the following given choices:

Atrophy

Metaplasia

Hypertrophy

The answer is hypertrophy. Due to the exertion of the heart muscles from increased pumping, the muscles cells enlarge and become bigger than their normal size as an adaptive response. Therefore, ultimately, the heart walls of the heart increase in size (without increase in their numbers as in the case of hyperplasia).
