Taiga is a Russian word that refers to an ecosystem characterized by snow and coniferous trees.
In English it is known as Boreal Forest or Snow Forest.
A large part of the Northern Hemisphere is made up of Taiga. Northern Russia, parts of Mongolia, Scottish Highlands, Northern Japan and Northern Canadian Provinces are all covered in Snow Forests.
