The aspect of visual processing that could explain his deficit is Blindsight

Visual processing is the way the brain translate and process visual input of things around us.

Virtual cortex is a very important part of the human brain as it enables the processing of visual input or information to take place.

Blindsight occurs when a blind person who suffered damage to a part of their visual cortex can easily identify things around them despite been blind.

In a situation were a portion of the visual cortex is damaged which inturn lead to blindness, the affected person brain can still process visual information.

The reason is that the part of the brain that enables visual information or visual input to be transmitted via the retina is not entirely damaged.

Inconclusion The aspect of visual processing that could explain his deficit is Blindsight.
