The Europeans also explored the Americas in order C. to expand empires so that they could have access to more resources.

After Christopher Columbus rediscovered the Americas for the Europeans, some of the major European powers established colonies there in order to:

  • Acquire wealth - the Americas had a wealth of resources that the Europeans benefited from such as gold and agriculture

  • Spread Christianity - Nations like Spain took conversion very seriously and saw it as their Divine mission to spread Christianity to the Natives.

  • Expand empires - At the time, having a large empire was a very valuable thing and so the European powers such as Spain, France and Britain, flocked to the Americas to take over areas and add to their empires.

A chief reason the Europeans came was to increase their empires so we can conclude that the best motive that concludes the diagram above is the motive of empire expansion.

What book analyzed the 1950s as a culture of conformity?
grigory [225]
In America in 1950s, conformity is not something new wherein all the people, young an old followed pre-set norms instead of striking and making things out of their own. It was the book of Sociologist David Riesman tha analyzed the 1950s as the culture of conformity. However, not all people in America conformed to such norms like the beats. The "beat generation" is made up writers that rebelled against athe cultural norms trying to emphasize spontaneity and spirituality, intuition over reason and even a lot more. They even defied the patterns of respectability shocking the entire culture.

2. What foreign policy issues arose in the nation's<br> early years?
omeli [17]

Answer:

Piracy and its answer a standing Navy was an issue as was the forced impressment of merchant seamen by the British. The cost was a huge issue due to the lack of taxing authority of the early congress. Also the ownership of the lands making up the Louisiana purchase first by Spain and later France made the Mississippi unusable to early settlers for transport thus making the Hudson a vital artery. Relations between the US, Spain, Britain & France were very tenuous especially with the rise of Napoleon. The European wars however provided opportunity and led to our ability to seek what was phrased as our " manifest destiny" to expand sea to sea. At the expense of course of the peoples who lived there.
