Why did states establish republican forms of government?
nikitadnepr [17]
States established Republican forms of government because they believed that the manner in which the British government implemented several taxation policies was unconstitutional, as Parliament formulated and passed such jurisdiction without "representation" - giving birth to the famous phrase "no taxation without representation" - and thereby undermining the Colonists' "rights as Englishmen".

Why were the Indian Muslims less active in politics after the Indian Revolt of 1857 ????
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

An uprising in several sepoy companies of the Bengal army was sparked by the issue of new gunpowder cartridges for the Enfield rifle February, 1857. The cartridges were rumoured to have been made from cow and sow fat. Loading the Enfield required tearing open the greased cartridge with one's teeth. This would have insulted both Hindu and Muslim religious practices; cows were considered holy by Hindus, while pigs were considered unclean by Muslims.
