Mathematics

Answer:

104.8 in^2

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 2 ways to solve this problem.

The 1st way:

Let's make 2 triangles and 1 rectangle:

Rectangle Length = 8.3

Rectangle Width = 8

So, the left out length will be 17.9 - 8.3

=> 9.6

Since, 9.6 cm is for 2 parts.

=> 9.6 / 2

=> 4.8

So, Height of the Triangle = 8

      Base of the triangle = 4.8

Area of a rectangle

=> 8.3 x 8

=> 66.4

Area of the triangle

=> 1/2 x 8 x 4.8

=> 4 x 4.8

=> 19.2

There are 2 triangles:

=> 19.2 x 2

=> 38.4

=> 66.4 + 38.4

=> 104.8

The area of the trapezoid = 104.8 in^2.

The 2nd way is:

Area of a trapezoid

=> Smaller Base + Larger Base / 2 x Height

=> 8.3 + 17.9 / 2 x 8

=> 26.2 / 2 x 8

=> 13.1 x 8

=> 104.8

The area of the trapezoid is 104.8 in^2

David says he has 2/3 of a pipe length left, while Don says he has 11/16 of a length left. Which person has the longest section
Kruka [31]

Answer:

Don

Step-by-step explanation:

1. We make the fractions have common denominators so it is easier to compare them. We can do this buy multiplying 2/3 by a factor of 16, so it becomes 32/48. For 11/16, we multiply by a factor of 3 so it becomes 33/48. It is now apparent that Don has the longer pipe.

Maria is purchasing sandwiches for her team at work. Each sandwich costs $6.25 and there is a delivery fee of $15.00, all taxes
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

The maximum number of sandwiches she can buy is 24.

Step-by-step explanation:

We can create a function to represent the cost of her team's lunch in function of the number of people in the team. We have:

cost(x) = 15 + 6.25*x

Since she needs to stay on budget, the cost has to be less or equal to 170, therefore:

cost(x) \leq 170\\15 + 6.25*x \leq 170\\6.25*x \leq 170 - 15\\x \leq \frac{155}{6.25}\\x \leq 24.8

Since she can't buy 0.8 sandwiches, the maximum number of sandwiches she can buy is 24.
