Another synonym of the word cunning is trickery. The caption used the word cunningly because Odysseus actually devised a trick to get free from the hostage of the Cyclops, Polyphemus.

 • In the story, "The Odyssey," we learn of Odysseus who was a warrior. He entered the cave of the one-eyed giants known as the Cyclops.

 • His men advised him to quickly take milk and cheese from the cave and escape but he refused to heed their pleas. Polyphemus captured him there.

 • To escape, he passed a wooden rod through fire when Polyphemus was away caring for his sheep. When Polyphemus came back, he got him intoxicated and told him that his name was "Nobody".

 • When drunk, he drove the rod through the eyes of Polyphemus so that when the other cyclops came to inquire what was happening, Polyphemus told them that "Nobody" was killing him.

 • Clinging to the belly of Polyphemus' sheep, Odysseus made his escape from the cave.

 • Conclusively, all of these were acts of trickery that demonstrate how Odysseus escaped from the cave.

In 150 words, describe what Arthur would say to the captain in response to his questions in Twelve Years a Slave.
zlopas [31]

Answer:

Sure.

The ship stops on the way to New Orleans, picking up four more slaves. Among them is a slave named Arthur. Like Solomon and Robert, Arthur is a free man with a family and was kidnapped and sold into slavery. When the ship departs again for New Orleans, the captain appoints Robert as his waiter and Solomon as the overseer of the cooking department. Solomon is also made to distribute food and water twice a day. At night, the slaves are “driven into the hold and securely fastened down.”

Arthur’s story of being kidnapped echoes that of Robert and Solomon, pushing the reader to recognize the widespread distortion of justice that permeates the nation. The slaves are once again compared to livestock, as they are “driven into the hold and securely fastened down” like horses or cattle being kept in the barn for the night.

A violent storm descends upon the ship, and many of the slaves wish that the “compassionate sea” would drown them, saving them from “the clutches of remorseless men.” Solomon tells his reader not to judge him for any of his actions that follow in the narrative, writing: “Let not those who have never been placed in like circumstances, judge me harshly.”

Today, there is a small movement toward older technology—some people favor vinyl
Korolek [52]

Sarah Chrisman would explain this phenomena in the same manner as she would explain the desire and demand for antiques

Given how far technology has progressed, with the introduction of CDs, Memory Cards, Bluetooth, and other advanced media devices, it is evident that mankind is returning to the days when vinyl records were a thing.

What exactly is an antique?

An antique is a valuable item that is valued because of its aesthetic or historical significance.

It is normally defined as being at least 100 years old, although the term is frequently used loosely to denote anything that is ancient.

In summation, an antique is one that is 100 years old or older, whereas a vintage is one that is younger but still pre-1999.

It's a simple distinction, but it's not necessarily as important as you may think.

After reviewing the passage from “The People Could Fly,” write two to four sentences explaining which details are factual and wh
Aleks04 [339]

Answer:

Factual detail: The folks were full of misery, then. Got sick with the up and down of the sea.

Fictional detail: The ones that could fly shed their wings. They couldn't take their wings across the water on the slave ships.

Explanation:

'The People Could Fly' is a book authored by Virginia Hamilton which consists of twenty four folk tales regarding animals, fairy tales, tales related to supernatural and so on.

From the passage, we can one out that it consist of details which are factual and which aren't true. The line, '"The ones that could fly shed their wings. They couldn't take their wings across the water on the slave ships" is a fictional one mainly because in reality, people cannot really fly.

Another detail from the passage which says 'The folks were full of misery, then. Got sick with the up and down of the sea' is a factual detail. This is because folks where taken from their home on ships, and there is a likelyhood of sea sickness for many people who travel on ship.
