Answer: A) The strength of hope.

Explanation: In literature, the theme is the underlying message of a story, it is what critical belief about life is the author trying to convey in the writing of a novel, play, short story or poem. Usually this belief, or idea, is universal and transcends cultural barriers. In the given excerpt from the poem "Hope is a Thing with Feathers" we can see developed the theme of the strength of hope, in the way the speaker describes how it never stops and perches in the soul.

What technique is used in this phrase?
otez555 [7]

Answer:

Metaphor

What is a metaphor?

A figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance, as in "A mighty fortress is our God."

In the sentence, "My son is a greyhound out of the blocks when it's hometime," the son is being compared to this because of how fast he runs to get home.

Hence, the technique used in the phrase, "My son is a greyhound out of the blocks when it's hometime" is a metaphor.
