zloy xaker [14]

The current wage gap between men and women in the United States is about 20%. In spite of decades of activism and gains in women's wages, the issue has yet to be resolved; there is even some evidence that progress in closing the wage gap has recently slowed down. In order to address this persistent issue, some have proposed solutions such as salary transparency, while others call for new ways of approaching the problem.

One proposed solution is salary transparency. Source A argues that salary transparency is a key step in addressing the wage gap. Elsesser cites a study which found that women in male-dominated fields are paid less than their male counterparts, even when controlling for experience and education. She argues that the only way to address this issue is to make salaries transparent, so that women can negotiate for equal pay.

Another proposed solution is to address the issue at its root cause. Source D argues that the root cause of the wage gap is gender discrimination. Gaag cites a study which found that women are less likely to be hired for jobs that are considered to be "male" jobs, and that they are also paid less when they are hired for these jobs. She argues that the only way to address the wage gap is to address discrimination against women.

The most important change that can be made to promote pay equality is to address discrimination against women. Discrimination against women is the root cause of the wage gap, and it is the only way to address the issue at its source. Gaag's study shows that women are less likely to be hired for jobs that are considered to be "male" jobs, and that they are also paid less when they are hired for these jobs. The only way to address the wage gap is to address discrimination against women.

What is a potential problem in reducing the Commandments to “Four legs good, two legs bad”?
Ann [662]
Hey there!

I assume we're talking about Animal Farm.

First of all, this statement alludes to the fact that they're trying to say that animals are good, and humans are bad- because that's the main idea in most parts of the book. The animals have risen up and created their own rules for the farm in the wake of the human oppression previously not occurring and brought to life by the speech of Old Major. There are two main problems:

First of all, the whole farm runs on animals - however, pigs remain sovereign. The problem is, although most animals do have four legs, some animals, like swans, birds, and chickens, don't. That means they're left out and perhaps their contribution to the farm can be lost as a result of the fact that their physical anatomy betrays the ideals of the Commandments.

Secondly, we discussed before how this leaves out humans. However, they need humans- especially for the windmill at the beginning. If you remember, Napoleon actually had to make deals with some, and those proved to be very beneficial. This pretty much means that Napoleon is trying to dictate the beliefs of the beings he rules, but breaks and bends his own rules when he wants. After all, he became the leader after a revolution on the farm and uses his attack dogs in place of military force. Sound familiar? Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, and most other characters represent people from history. One of the main points of this book is looking at it from another perspective. The animals mean something, it's more a book about the actions of people.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

It is important for every ethnic group to have understanding and empathy for members of other groups whose backgrounds and living conditions are different from their own. Reading allows students to walk vicariously for a short time in the shoes of others, to feel what they feel, and to empathize with their problems.
