One of the most important things they do is organizing the competition by choosing candidates to run under their label. This is also affected by how states organize their ballots. Parties also help to unify the electorate and moderate conflict, as well as help organize government and turn preference into policy.

Why do historians call the cities of sumer "city-states"?
NISA [10]

Sumer is the earliest known civilization in the southern-Eastern Mesopotamia region.

During the bronze age, the area was known for the developed of anciest villages, cities and 'city-states'

These cities were called 'city-states' because they were similar to independent countries rather than a collective power.

Each city had their own kings, their own army, economy and laws. They traded with one another and often fought wars but were not a single political entitiy.

That is why they are called city-states.

The correct answer is C. The election of 1936 produced a new and enduring coalition of voters for the Democratic Party.

Explanation:

The presidential election of 1936 was held on November 3, 1936. The distribution of electoral votes was the most unilateral in history. The election was won by incumbent President, Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt, challenged by Republican Alf Landon.

With 523 electoral votes, Roosevelt received 98.49 percent of the electoral vote, the highest percentage since the 1820 election. Roosevelt also received the highest number of electoral votes in history, surpassed only by Ronald Reagan's 525 electoral votes in the 1984 election.
