A local charity sponsors a 5K race to raise money. It receives $25 per race entry and $5,000 in donations, but it must spend $5
kenny6666 [7]

they receive 25 per entry but 5 goes towards the cost of the race

 so 25-5 = 20 per entry is for the charity

 so 20x + 5000 = 25000

subtract 5000 from each side

20x= 20000

 divide both sides by 20

 x = 20000/ 20

x = 1000

 they need at least 1000 entries to make 25000

 so to make more than 25000, they need 1001 entries

If a coin is flipped and then a six-sided number cube is rolled, what is the probability that the outcome will be Heads and a 2?
Lina20 [59]
The probability is 1/12.

There are two outcomes for flipping a coin and 6 for rolling a 6-sided number cube.  The sample space is:
(H, 1), (H, 2), (H, 3), (H, 4), (H, 5), (H, 6)
(T, 1), (T, 2), (T, 3), (T, 4), (T, 5), (T, 6)

There are 12 total outcomes.  Only one has heads and a 2, so the probability is 1/12.

A dress usually sells for $67.00. If the dress is 30% off, what is the total price of the dress (excluding tax)?
sattari [20]

First, turn 30% into a decimal

30% / 100 = 0.3

Second, multiply.

0.3 * 67 = $20.10 is the discount

Third, subtract.

67 - 20.1 = $46.90 is the total price of the dress.

Best of Luck!
