You are going to want to FOIL both of these (first, outside, inside, last).

(2a-b)(a-2b)
=2a^2-4ab-ab+2b^2
=2a^2-5ab+2b^2

I’ll break it down more with the second equation. Remember that ^2 means squared.

(4x-2)(x-4)
First: 4x*x= 4x^2
Outside: 4x*-4=-16x
Inside: -2*x=-2x
Last: -2*-4=8

Now let’s put the answers together in one equation.

4x^2-16x-2x+8

Now we will combine like terms.

4x^2-18x+8

Match each equation to an equivalent equation written in slope-intercept form.
choli [55]

Answer:

 In order down the left side, ...

 • y = 1/3x +2
 • y = 1/2x +3
 • y = 2x +6
 • y = -2x +3

Step-by-step explanation:

To put a linear equation in slope-intercept form, you solve for y, then simplify.

x -3y = -6

Subtract x and divide by -3:

 y = 1/3x +2

__

2y -6 = x

Add 6 and divide by 2:

 y = 1/2x +3

__

-x +(1/2)y = 3

Add x and multiply by 2:

 y = 2x +6

__

2x +y = 3

Subtract 2x:

 y = -2x +3

_____

Comment on the algebra

Note that when we say add, subtract, multiply, or divide by something or other, we mean to do that to both sides of the equation. That is required by the properties of equality.

If you remember the rule: do the same thing to both sides of the equation, then algebra suddenly becomes much easier.

What is the surface area of the part of the cake that will have frosting? No links or I will report you. If you answer correctly
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer:

396 square inches

Step-by-step explanation:

First we must find the overall surface area of the cake, which will the total area of all of the faces.

The cake is a rectangular prism, meaning the faces are all rectangles and opposite faces will be identical.

As opposite faces are identical, the area of only 3 faces need to be found, and a formula can be crafted:

A = 2 (lw + wh + lh), where l is length, w is width, and h is height.

For demonstration purposes, the length will be 12 and the width will be 15.

Substituting, we get:

A = 2 ((12)(15) + (15)(4) + (12)(4))\\A = 2(180 + 60 + 48)\\A = 2(288)\\A = 576\\

Now, we must subtract the area that is not covered by frosting. As there is only a lack of frosting on the base, we subtract the area of the base.

A = 576 - lw\\A = 576 - (12)(15)\\A = 576 - 180\\A = 396
