Step-by-step explanation:

strange way of phrasing this.

if I understand correctly we have the points

(-4, 6) and (-1, 6).

the first number is the x coordinate, the second number the y coordinate.

but sure, you can write points also as vectors (the coordinate values on top of each other). they are then all pointers from the origin (0, 0) to the designated points.

anyway, once we understand the coordinates of the points, we see that both have the same y coordinate.

when 2 points have the same x or the same y coordinates it is easy to calculate the distance (at least in 2 dimensions) : it is simply the absolute value of the difference in the other coordinate.

in our case here : |-4 - -1| = |-4 + 1| = |-3| = 3

so, the distance between both points is 3.

if the points do not share a coordinate value, like for

(-4, 6) and (-1, 2), we need to use Pythagoras for right-angled triangles.

c² = a² + b²

c is the Hypotenuse (the baseline, the side opposite of the 90 degree angle) and would be the distance between the 2 points.

a and b are the other 2 sides (often called legs) on each side of the 90 degree angle. they would be the difference of the x coordinates and the difference of the y coordinates.

so, in my example,

c² = (-4 - -1)² + (6 - 2)² = (-3)² + 4² = 9 + 16 = 25

c = sqrt(25) = 5

the distance between these 2 points would therefore be 5.

please note that in this case we don't bother with the absolute value, because we are squaring the elements. and squaring always delivers a positive result.

PL has endpoints P(4, −6) and L(−2, 1). The segment is translated using the mapping (x, y) → (x 5, y). What are the coordinates
cestrela7 [59]

The coordinates of P' is (9, -6) and L' is (3, -1).

<h2>Given that</h2>

PL has endpoints P(4, −6) and L(−2, 1).

The segment is translated using the mapping (x, y) → (x + 5, y).

<h3>We have to determine</h3>

What are the coordinates of P’ and L’?

<h3>According to the question</h3>

PL has endpoints P(4, −6) and L(−2, 1).

The segment is translated using the mapping (x, y) → (x + 5, y).

The coordinates of point P after translation using mapping is,

\rm P(x, \ y) - P'(x+5, y)\\&#10;\\&#10;P(4, -6) - P'(4+5, \ -6)\\&#10;\\&#10;P(4, -6) - P'(9, -6)\\

And the coordinates of point L after translation using mapping is,

\rm L(x, \ y) - L'(x+5, y)\\\\L(-2, 1) - L'(-2+5, \ -1)\\\\L(4, -6) - L'(3, -1)\\

Hence, The coordinates of P' is (9, -6) and L' is (3, -1).

Simplify 18-2[x + (x - 5)].<br> O8-4x<br> 28 - 4x<br> 28 - 2x
densk [106]

Answer:

28-4x

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Open most inner bracket and simplify

=18-2(x+x-5)

=18-2(2x-5)

Step 2: Expand brackets by multiplying 2 in and simplify

=18-2(2x)-2(-5)

=18-4x+10

=28-4x

Therefore the answer is 28-4x

The square of a whole number 'n' lies between 80 and 150. Find all possible values for 'n'.
pychu [463]
The square of a whole number n lies between 80 and 150, so n lies between √80 and √150.

\sqrt{80} \approx 8.9 \\&#10;\sqrt{150} \approx 12.2

n is a whole number and lies between 8.9 and 12.2, so n can be 9, 10, 11, or 12.

The possible values for n are 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Simplify (11 + 5i)(11 - 51)
Ede4ka [16]

Answer:

 (146 +  0i)

Step-by-step explanation:

(11+5i)(11-5i)

The formula is :

(a+bi) • (x+yi)  = ax+by•i^2+(ay+bx)i

and since  i^2 = -1  it can be written as :

ax - by + (ay + bx) i

( 11 +  5i) • ( 11 -  5i) =

 (146 +  0i)

hope this helped brainlest owo???
