The Egyptians believed that they was an afterlife. According to them, those who were able to move to the afterlife deserved to be comfortable like they were on earth.

When they died, their most priced possessions were also sent along with them. These includes gold, silver and bronze items.

Also the servants and the animals of the dead were also interned in the pyramids. They were to serve the dead in the afterlife.
