<u>Given </u><u>:</u><u>-</u><u> </u>

  • A triangle ABC .

<u>To </u><u>prove</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u><u> </u>

  • Sum of interior angles of a ∆ is 180° .

<u>Construction</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u>

  • Draw a line MCN parallel to AB .
  • Extend line AB to K .

<u>P</u><u>roof </u><u>:</u><u>-</u><u> </u>

In ∆ ABC , we have ,

  • \angle BAC + \angle BCA = \angle CBK

As sum of two interior angles of a triangle is equal to the opposite exterior angle .

Also ,

  • \angle ABC + \angle CBK = 180°

( linear pair )

Hence from above two ,

  • \angleABC + \angle BAC + \angle ACB = 180°

<u>Hence </u><u>Proved</u><u> </u><u>!</u><u> </u>

Find the equation perpendicular to the line y=−3x+5 that passes through point (2, 6).
ololo11 [35]

Hey there! :)

Perpendicular to y = -3x + 5 ; passes through (2, 6).

Our slope is -3. We know this because it is in the "m" position from slope-intercept form. However, since our equation we're looking for is perpendicular to our given one, we must find the negative reciprocal of -3.

A negative reciprocal is simply a number that is flipped and either given a negative or gets a negative removed.

So the negative reciprocal of -3 is 1/3. This means that our new slope is 1/3.

Now, using point-slope form ( y-y₁=m(x-x₁) ), our new slope (1/3) & (2, 6) , let's find our new equation!

y-y₁=m(x-x₁) y - (6) = 1/3(x - 2)

Simplify.

y - 6 = 1/3x - 2/3

A submarine was 144 feet below sea level. A shark was hovering at a constant depth above the submarine. The submarine’s depth wa
Lelu [443]

Answer:

-72 feet : Shark is 72 feet below sea level.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent depth of the shark.

We have been given that the submarine’s depth was twice the depth of the shark. This means that depth of submarine would be 2x.

We have been given that a submarine was 144 feet below sea level, so submarine's elevation would be -144\text{ ft}.We can represent this information in an equation as:

2x=-144

To find shark's position, we need to solve for x.

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{-144}{2}

x=-72

Therefore, -72 feet represents shark's elevation, which represents that shark is 72 feet below sea level.

Find the average value of the function on the given interval.<br> f(x)=(2x-1)1/2; [1,13]
Leni [432]

Answer:

The average value of the function on the given interval 6.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the given function is

f(x)=\dfrac{2x-1}{2}

We need to find the average value of the function on the given interval [1,13].

f(x)=\dfrac{2x}{2}-\dfrac{1}{2}

f(x)=x-0.5

The average value of the function f(x) on [a,b] is

Average=\dfrac{1}{b-a}\int\limits^b_a {f(x)} \, dx

Average value of the function on the given interval [1,13] is

Average=\dfrac{1}{13-1}\int\limits^{13}_{1} {x-0.5} \, dx

Average=\dfrac{1}{12}[\dfrac{x^2}{2}-0.5x]^{13}_{1}

Average=\dfrac{1}{12}[\dfrac{(13)^2}{2}-0.5(13)-(\dfrac{(1)^2}{2}-0.5(1))]

Average=\dfrac{1}{12}[78-0]

Average=6.5

Therefore, the average value of the function on the given interval 6.5.
