While the government of Carolina already a constitution, originally made on the 1st March of 1669. However, this was soon  ratified firstly in 1682 and then later in 1698.

Explanation:

The original Constitution was built by Carolina's proprietors,who worked with the governor to ensure that a set of laws could be followed.

However, it was in 1682 that over 3 revisions of the constitution took place. It was the same year in which an affluent class of English men, took over the political and economic control of the colony.

Eventually, they concentrated their efforts in Charleston, taking over native land and building large plantations.
