max2010maxim [7]

Farming is a common economic activity around two important rivers in South Asia, the INDUS and the GANGES

Explanation:

Ganges and Indus are two of the major rivers flowing in South Asia. They came into existence a long time ago. These rivers along with the Brahmaputra are known to be the backbone of South Asia in terms of culture and economy. The three rivers have contributed to the rise of the earliest civilizations in history.

Farming is the major economic activity in which these rivers have contributed and still contributing to the present as the soil present around them is very fertile and is ideal for various crops such as  Wheat, Rice,Cotton,Sugarcane and Maize. The fertility of the soil is replenished when the rivers are flooded making it ready for next cultivation.

What are the 5 main ways of assessing water quality?
marta [7]

Antidegradation, designated uses, and water quality criteria make up the three parts of water quality standards. The level of water quality required to sustain a certain designated use is represented by water quality criteria.

A probe that can record data at a single moment in time or logged at regular intervals over a long period of time can be used to assess water quality. Water samples can also be taken for laboratory examination. Information on water quality is used by the Department of Water to support decisions regarding the management of water resources. Certain toxins in our water might cause health concerns, such as neurological diseases, reproductive troubles, and gastrointestinal illnesses. People with low immune systems, infants, young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and pregnant women may be particularly susceptible to sickness. A measure of the acceptability of water for a specific application based on chosen physical, chemical, and biological qualities is known as water quality. One of the most crucial indicators of the water quality in streams, rivers, and lakes is dissolved oxygen, or DO. It is an important indicator of water pollution [10]. The greater the water quality, the higher the dissolved oxygen concentration. Oxygen is particularly temperature-sensitive and only mildly soluble in water. Numerous elements, including precipitation, climate, soil type, vegetation, geology, flow conditions, ground water, and human activities, have an impact on water quality. The point sources from businesses and municipalities pose the most risk to the quality of the water. The main causes of water pollution are bacteria, viruses, parasites, insecticides, pharmaceuticals, plastics, feces, radioactive materials, fertilizers, and pesticides. These compounds are frequently invisible contaminants since they do not always alter the colour of the water.
