Answer:

C. Fought Chinese customs and Confucian traditions

Explanation:

The Taiping Rebellion challenged traditional Chinese and Confucian principles. It attempted to overthrow China's Qing Dynasty and replace it with a new "Heavenly Kingdom." Many joined the Taiping Rebellion because they believed the Qing emperors had brought foreign traditions to China. The Qing emperors were considered foreigners because they were racially Manchurian, while most people in China were racially Han.

1.) Which issue is NOT a major challenge that both Australia and New Zealand face today?
Elodia [21]

1.) D.) High birth rates

As most of the countries in the world, Australia and New Zealand have some issues that make them problems, but the high birth rates is not one of those issues. These two nations do not have high birth rates, in fact they have low birth rates. The governments of these nations try to convince the people to have more children as they are starting to face an aging population which is very damaging for the economy. The younger population though is not that interested in having lot of children, and some don't want to have children at all.

2.) B.)They crowd out native animal territories

The invasive species are species that have been introduced into a new environment, be it naturally or because of the humans. These species more often than not manage to outcrowd the native species territories. This happens because the invasive species are often able to reproduce quicker. They tend to outcompete the native species, and also the native species do not have a defense mechanism against them. This results in explosion of the populations of invasive species, while the native species have significant decrease or go extinct.

In the above quotation, what does Paine mean by the terms "summer soldier" and "sunshine patriot"?
prisoha [69]
During the (first) American revolution, soldiers who joined the Continental Army during the spring or summer but went AWOL in the fall or winter were known as "summer soldiers".

Many of the "summer soldiers" were farmers who would join up with the Army when their crops were planted, fight with them during the summer, and go back home to help with the harvest. Others would stay with the Army through the harvest, but sneak off in the middle of the night once the weather got cold.

Meanwhile, the people who supported the revolutionaries when the revolution was going well -- but not otherwise -- were called "sunshine patriots".

So in the famous passage from "The Crisis" where Thomas Paine wrote:
The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country
he was talking -- quite literally in the former case -- about the fair-weather friends of the Revolution.
