My Hobby Essay Examples

We all know what hobbies are- you know, those fun activities we love to partake on just to distract ourselves from the stresses of life. Hobbies make us feel rejuvenated and satisfied, even when our lives are going through some disappointing phase. While others have been able to harness the power of their hobbies and converted them to money making ventures, many of us are just contented with the joy and satisfaction we derive from them. Here are few essay examples on My Hobby.

What kind of imagery do these lines from Wordsworth’s "She Dwelt Among Untrodden Ways" evoke?
Mice21 [21]

Answer:

C. Visual imagery

Explanation:

This piece is about a person Lucy (whom the speaker admires a whole lot). The speaker captured the rarity & beauty of Lucy's life which was unfortunately missed by people. The speaker would describe Lucy using imagery. He likened her to:

I. the flower Violet (which is not common) in the first line to project her beauty

II. a fair star to further describe her beauty & allure in the third line

In doing this, the speaker used imagery which the eyes can see e.g. flower (Violet), star, sky.

Kinesthetic imagery is used to describe moving objects, gustatory imagery describes what is tasted, tactile imagery describes what can be touched or felt; all these three are NOT the correct answer

Hence, the author used visual imagery. That means option C is the correct answer

Isolation: Whatever else the Lady of Shalott has going on, she's definitely alone. We don't know who shut her away in the castle or why, but it doesn't seem fair. We can tell that she's fed up with it; in fact she even says as much. Her desire to be part of the world, to interact, to love and be loved, is what pushes the whole plot of this poem. The fact that she never really breaks out of her loneliness is what gives "The Lady of Shalott" a tragic edge.
