The time spent for each activity can be found writing an equation based on

the known parameters.

 • The duration of the time Stanley spent running is 1.5 hours
 • The duration of the time Stanley spent swimming is 1 hour
 • The duration of the time Stanley spent Biking is 3 hours

 • The distance Stanley cover while biking is 48 miles

Reasons:

The running speed = 9 mph

The biking speed = 16 mph

Swimming speed = 2.5 mph

The time spent running = 0.5 hour + Time spent swimming

Biking time = 2 × Running time

The total distance covered = 64 miles

Required:

Time spent running, swimming, and biking

Solution:

Let t represent the time Stanley spent swimming, we have;

(t + 0.5)·9 + 2.5·t + 2×(t + 0.5)×16 = 64

43.5·t + 20.5 = 64

43.5·t = 64 - 20.5 = 43.5

t = \dfrac{43.5}{43.5} = 1

 • The time Stanley spent swimming, t = 1 hour

The time Stanley spent running = 0.5 + t

Therefore;

The time spent running = 0.5 hour + 1 hour = 1.5 hour

 • Time spent running = 1.5 hours

Time spent biking = 2 × Running time

Therefore;

 • Time spent biking = 2 × 1.5 hours = 3 hours

 • The distance Stanley cover while biking, d = 3 × 16 mph = 48 miles

What is the solution to the system of linear equations?
balu736 [363]
2x + 4y = 38......multiply by -5
10x + 3y = 105
-----------------
-10x - 20y = - 190....result of multiplying by -5
10x + 3y = 105
----------------add
-17y = - 85
y = -85/-17
y = 5

2x + 4y = 38
2x + 4(5) = 38
2x + 20 = 38
2x = 38 - 20
2x = 18
x = 18/2
x = 9

solution is : (9,5)

Help asap! ill give the best to person who explains it clearly
Phantasy [73]

Answer:

The answer is D.

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you have to find the area of circle using the formula :

A = π × r²

A = π × 3²

A = 9π

Given that PHU is an equilateral triangle so all sides have a degree of 60°. Next, you have to find the area of minor sector of P and U by using the formula :

A = (θ/360) × π × r²

A = (60/360) × π × 3²

A = 1.5π

Lastly, you have to subtract the area of sector from the area of circle in order to find the area of shaded region :

A = (9π × 2) - (1.5π × 2)

A = 18π - 3π

A = 15π
