There are actually many kings named Philip II. So, I'm going to write about the successes achieved by Philip II of Spain.

2 of Philip II's successes were :-

  1. He defeated the turks at the Battle of Lepanto.
  2. He also annexed Portugal and gained access to their empires.

The astrolabe was basically a map of the stars, you could use it to navigate by connecting what stars you see and what stars are on the astrolabe. It was also important for religious groups that built their religion off the stars!
