Im afraid

although I like to mask my fear

I prefer to stand clear

tall buildings mountain tops

or simply just a roof

I imagine the worst

I tremble and even sometimes curse

it's very common to fear

but I prefer to not let my friends hear

as I feel they may make fun

I'd rather suffer instead of run

it may not come when you're young

climbing trees and riding rides

until you feel the fear

and then riding those rides may be hard

lots of courage to ride once more

Hiking is a pleasant activity. how does the underlined gerund function in the sentence?
Zarrin [17]

as a subject

The subject of the sentence is who or what the sentence is about. Most of the time in simple sentences like this one, the subject is at the beginning of the sentence. A gerund is a verb that acts like a noun and ends in -ing.

Direct objects receive the action of the verb. This sentence does not have an action verb so it does not have a direct object. The indirect object receives the direct object. For example. I gave Jack the ball. Ball is the direct object because it receives the action "gave". I also think about it in terms of what do I touch first if I'm going to do the action. Then the indirect object is Jack because he receives the ball. He is where I'd go to second. An appositive is a noun that renames or describes another noun. It is usually set off by commas. For example, Jack, my brother, took the ball. My brother is the appositive because it is renaming or describing who Jack is.

In the story, The Miracle Worker, the voices in Anny's memory are her brother Jimmy's Voice.

The description of the Asylum is very shocking to Mrs. Keller and the Captain. This is because she shares very horrible details of the experience she and Jimmie had while living there.

How would Anny's story affect a normal parent?

Anny's story is one that has the capacity to instill fear and caution in the hearts of a parent thus preventing them from sending their children to such a place if they were thinking of doing so.

How likely are many teachers to follow the sequence when a child asks "Where is the ant going?"?
Alex_Xolod [135]

Explanation:

 • Many of them are following the sequence that they have. This is a normal question for, usually, the fourth grade and its purpose is to awake the imagination in children and in that way teacher can see what is the knowledge of the children in the class and what is their point of view, can they describe their imagination in a proper way.

There is no wrong answer to this question and that is why this is one of the most interesting questions in the school. Teachers should always follow the sequence when it comes to this kind of question.
