compare and contrast the experience of a member of the bourgeoisie with that of a noble in pre-revolutionary France.
aivan3 [116]

The social order of pre-Revolutionary France was composed of three states: the 1st state was made up of clergymen, the 2nd state included all the nobility, and the 3rd state was formed by the rest of the population of France, including the peasantry, the bourgeoisie, and the city workers.

The experiences of the nobility and the bourgeoisie were very different during this period. The nobiity included around 1-2% of the population of the country. They were mostly exempt from taxes and for the most part, did not have a job. On the other hand, the bourgeoisie was a large percentage of the population, and carried a significant tax burden. This class was the most educated and wealthiest part of the 3rd State, and they resented the privileges of the nobles, in particular the tax exemptions. The conflict between these classes was a reason for the French Revolution.

Who were important people in the steam industry during the industrial revolution?
Feliz [49]

Answer: James Watt / Thomas Newcomen

Explanation:

  • The two names that are most responsible for the use of steam in the industry. The original steam engine was modified in 1712 but was later refined by James Watt, who was credited with the invention. The invention was a revolution in traffic, and a steam engine, except on land, was also used to launch ships (steamboat).
  • Mentioned in 1712, Thomas Newcomen is the person who was responsible for the construction of the steam-pumped atmospheric pump. His invention worked for much of the eighteenth century but was not economical. Thanks to the technical refinement by James Watts, a revolution is about to occur in the industry.
