I would say that the reason well established ideas and traditions change over time because of the ideals of individualism. During this time period especially, the people were starting to see that there was more to them than just religion. In discovering this new sense of self, the establishment of new ideas, traditions, and practices was brought forward. In addition to this, it may also be beneficial to mention the fact that people were divided by social classes. In comparing a peasant to a noble, something as small as standard of living can affect your viewpoint of tradition entirely. The age of the Reformation was an age of educated thought and separation of church and personal ideas. Add emphasis to that when you answer this question :))
