A full moon appears white to us on earth because it A) emits white light B) reflects the light from earth C) reflects the light
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

C) Reflects the light from the sun

Explanation:

Moon does not emit its own light. The moonlight is primarily the sunlight that is being reflected form the surface of moon. The moon is actually quite black so only a little amount of sunlight is reflected back.

We see colour due to the presence of cones in our retina. When we look at the moon, the light coming from moon does not have enough intensity to excite or cone cells and thus only rod cell are get excited. As the rods can't sense colours so the moon appears white.

Why is it necessary to reduce the number of chromosomes in gametes, but not in other cells
almond37 [142]
The zygote must contain genetic information from the mother and from the father, so the gametes must contain half of the chromosomes found in normal body cells.

Hope this helps:)

What does it mean for a membrane to be selectively permeable?
maw [93]

Answer;

Semi-permeability means that only certain molecules are allowed to pass through.

Explanation;

-Semi-permeability is one of the features of a cell membrane, which means that the membrane allows selective movement of materials in and out of the cell; that is only certain molecules can enter or leave the cell.

-For example smaller molecules such water and ions such as potassium and sodium ions are able to leave and enter the cell, while other molecules that are large such as protein molecules can not enter or leave the cell.

When you eat a meal, food is digested and monomers like glucose are transported throughout your body. food is transformed and us
Alchen [17]
Food molecules like lipids, proteins and polysaccharides are broken down enzymatically via digestion process, which occurs in our intestine cells (digestive system). Those large polymeric molecules are broken down into their monomer subunits—proteins into amino acids, polysaccharides into sugars, and fats into fatty acids and glycerol. Formed small organic molecules are now ready for the oxidation (a process that produces ATP and consumes O2) which occurs partly in the cytosol and in the mitochondrion. Oxidation processes include glycolysis and citric acid cycle which are differently required in different tissues. Nervous system (nerve cells) rely almost entirely on a constant supply of glucose from the bloodstream. In contrast, liver cells supply glucose to actively contracting muscle system which needs a lot of ATP energy.
