Memorizing items on a list are enabled by the effects of primacy and

recency.

Ordinarily, material presented in the middle of a list is usually the most

difficult to remember due to interference.

Reasons:

When memorizing a list of items, due to the primacy effect, the information

at the beginning of the list are given importance, in the brain, due to their

many attributes, which may be due to them being;

 • The first item
 • Definition of the task (assignment of importance level)
 • Idea of what to expect (preparation of the mind)

Also the last items on the list are recalled by the effect known as recency,

which is probably due to the tendency to store items in the short term

memory.

Therefore, in the course of memorizing a list, the first items on the list can

be stored in the long-term memory. The items that comes last in the

list are stored in the short-term memory, while the material presented in

the middle of the list are not allocated to a storage, and are usually

the most difficult to remember due to interference, by other items that

tend to come up during the retrieval process, from the long-term memory.

A bike travels at 7.5 m/s along a straight road, whereas a car travels at 10.0 m/s along the same road and in the same direction
Ilya [14]

Answer:

t = 8.3 s

Explanation:

As we know that

velocity of bike = 7.5 m/s

velocity of car is 10 m/s

deceleration of car is 0.75 m/s^2

part a)

velocity of bike with respect to car is given as

v_r = 7.5 - 10 = -2.5 m/s

acceleration of bike with respect to car is given as

a_r = 0 - (-0.75) = 0.75 m/s^2

now the distance of the bike with respect to car is given as

d = v_i t + \frac{1}{2}at^2

5 = (-2.5) t + \frac{1}{2}(0.75)t^2

t = 8.3 s

A fugitive tries to hop a freight train traveling at a constant speed Of 4.5 m/s. Just as a empty box car passes him, the fugiti
Dominik [7]
We use the kinematics equation:
Vf = Vi + a*t
8 = 0 + 3.6 * t
t=2.222s to reach 8.0 m/s

At that time the train has moved
4.5 m/s * 2.222s = 9.999 m

He travelled (another kinematics equation)
Vf^2 = Vi^2 + (2*a*d)
(8.0)^2 = (0)^2 + (2 * 3.6 * d)
d=8.888 m

The train is 9.999m, the fugitive is 8.888m,
He still needs to travel
9.999-8.888= 1.111m

He needs to cover the rest of the distance in a smaller amount of time, however hes at his maximum velocity, so...
8m/s(man) - 4.5m/s(train) = 3.5 m/s more

(1.111m) / (3.5m/s) = .317seconds more to reach the train

So if it takes 2.222 seconds to approach the train at 8.888m, it should take
2.222 + .317 =2.529 seconds to reach the train completely

Last but not least is to figure out the total distance traveled in that time frame:

(Trains velocity) * (total time)

(4.5m/s)*(2.529s)=11.3805m
