• The American people were strongly independent. They wanted to do things for themselves. Great Britain was a long way away. The American people didn't want people an ocean away telling them how to live their lives.

• The British government decided to make the American colonies pay a large share of the war debt from the French and Indian War.

• Through the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, and other taxes, the British tried to collect taxes that the American people considered harsh.

• The American people also thought that they should be able to send their own people to Britain's Parliament or at least vote for Britain's lawmakers.

• The combination of the harsh taxes and the lack of an American voice in Parliament gave rise to the famous phrase "taxation without representation."

• Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, and others called for an independent America, colonies free from British rule and interference.

• Americans started stockpiling guns and ammunition in violation of British laws. Their defense of such a stockpile led to the shots fired at Lexington and Concord and the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

B. Explain the similarity in the facts between Brown V. Board of Education and Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle
KIM [24]

Answer:

on grounds of 'Equal Protection' laws of the 14th Amendment.

Explanation:

Both Brown V. Board of Education and parents involved in Community Schools v. Seattle presented their case on grounds of 'Equal Protection' laws of the 14th Amendment.

In Brown V. Board of Education, the court ruled that 'separate but equal' was an unconstitutional provision and that the practice of segregation was 'inherently unequal'. It further ruled out that these unequal provisions violated the equal protection laws.

Similarly, the parents involved in Community Schools v. Seattle claimed and argued that racial tiebreaker in district schools subjugated and infringed 'Equal Protection' laws of the 14th Amendment.

Though the initial plan of the racial tiebreaker system was to prevent racial imbalance in schools, the court adjudged that the system was unconstitutional because it, more or less, contributed to unequal opportunity in getting admissions.

What percentage of smartphone owners between the ages of 18-44 state they cannot recall the last time their mobile phone was not
Liula [17]

Answer: 25%

Explanation: Smartphones are certainly an inevitable part of the everyday life of the modern technological age. It is almost impossible to imagine a day-to-day life without the use of smartphones for a variety of purposes, from using a variety of applications through common calls, etc. The said age range of 18-44 years, which means from teens to middle-aged people, where as many as 25%, which is a quarter of this age population, do not remember when they left the phone for five minutes. Probably nothing terrible would happen in those five minutes, but that speaks to how widespread the use of smartphones is. Teens are known to use it for a variety of applications for different needs, while these phones can also serve the business of middle-aged people. This phenomenon may be a matter of prestige and perhaps a matter of need and habit, but it is a familiar cliché that these 25% do not want to leave their phones even for five minutes.

Len [333]

Answer:

Compromise

Explanation:

Compromise is defined as an agreement, usually when settling a dispute, reached by each side making concessions. According to Mary Parker Follett, in compromise, both parties do not necessarily get what they want, and hence they come to a concession, which is usually the best that each of them can have at that point in time.
