Ivahew [28]
Given that the US population is approximately 308,000,000 in 2010 and that 6.5% of this population is under 5 years of age, we will know that number of children by multiplying 6.5% by 308,000,000. So the answer would be 20,020,000. So that is the number of children below 5 years old. Hope this helps.

A person on tour has dollar 360 for his daily expenses. If he extends his tour for 4 days, he has to cut down his daily expenses
Greeley [361]

Answer:

The original duration of the tour  is 18 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

the number of days spent be T

Daily expenses be D

Initially ,

total tour expenses was 360

D \times T=360

D = \frac{360}{T}-------------(1)

If he extends his tour for 4 days, he has to cut down his daily expenses by dollar 3

(D + 4) \cdot(T -3) = 360---------------(2)

Expanding the eqaution(2)

DT-3D + 4T -12 = 360

Substituting the value of D

(\frac{360}{T})T -3( \frac{360}{T}) + 4T -12 = 360

(\frac{360}{T})T -3( \frac{360}{T}) + 4T= 360 + 12

(\frac{360}{T})T -3( \frac{360}{T}) + 4T= 372

360 - ( \frac{1080}{T}) + 4T= 372

( \frac{1080}{T}) + 4T= 372 - 360

( \frac{1080}{T}) + 4T= 12

1080 + 4T^2= 12T

Solving the quadratic equation we get

T = 18  and T = -15

T is the number of gays and it cannot be negative , hence T is 18

Substituting in equation (1) we get

D = \frac{360}{18}

D =  20

Write a function number_of_pennies() that returns the total number of pennies given a number of dollars and (optionally) a numbe
seraphim [82]
Ok, first of all, it is important to understand that this function would depend on 2 variables; the number of dollars (x) and the number of pennies (y). Every dollar is equivalent to 100 pennies. So, if we are given x dollars, we have 100*x pennies. If we also have y pennies, we still get y pennies. We need to add these two to get the total amount of pennies. Thus, the correct function is:
f(x,y)=100*x+y
