Dramatic irony occurs in a story when the audience knows something about the actions of an actor that the characters do not know about. An example of dramatic irony in this story is;

  • D.  Through the character of Feste the Clown pretending to be an authoritative figure

In that story, we see that Feste the clown pretended to be a priest and went to the prison where Malvolio was held to question him.

So while the audience knows that the person interviewing Malvolio was not a priest, Malvolio did not know this fact.

Therefore, option D is an example of dramatic irony.

I started drinking heavily and using drugs as a way to numb the pain. Finally I had a wake up call. As I got in to some legal trouble. It opened my eyes to all the things I may have lost if I continued living my life that way. I then decided to turn my life around and go back to school.
