Read the passage from John F. Kennedy's Speech at American University."

Answer:

President Kennedy’s usage of the phrase, “not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave,” in his Strategy of Peace Speech delivered at American University (which I had the opportunity of attending) appears to be eluding to society’s misconceptions about peace. He appears to be urging citizens to examine current attitudes on peace and discussing the need for redefinition. To further grasp the effect of the phrase on the entirety of the President Kennedy’s Speech, I would recommend examining the political climate at the time, as well as, the full text, to more fully comprehend the content of the speech.

If you were a teacher, which do you prefer ancient chinese education or ancient greece education? Why?

Education in Ancient China

Imagine jumping into a time machine and ending up in ancient China. You find yourself in the middle of a class full of boys who are learning to shoot with bows and arrows. Today, all boys and girls have to go to school but in ancient China, girls weren't allowed to go at all. And they definitely didn't get to learn cool things like archery!

Boys

In the beginning, only older boys in ancient China were allowed to go to school, but not all older boys. Boys from rich, important families got an education, but boys from poor families didn't. Even young boys from rich families stayed home with their mothers until they were old enough for school.

When they were young, boys learned their numbers and directions like north, south, east, and west. They also learned to respect and obey adults.

When they got older, wealthy boys learned from a master, which is like your teacher today. They needed to learn important things to prepare them for taking part in things like government, religion, and war.

Just like you, the older boys who got to go to school learned about math, reading, and writing. But they also learned about important ceremonies in their culture, music, and how to drive a two-wheeled vehicle pulled by horses called a chariot.

Boys in ancient China learned special dances and how to have respectful conversations, too. But they couldn't just pick up a piece of paper and pencil to take notes the way you do in class. They had to write on sticks made of wood and bamboo scrolls joined together.

I need help writing a creative writing story. (it can be about anything)
marshall27 [118]
I wanted to be heroic. At least I wanted to believe I was. To be honest, I’ve always been good at pretending. Pretending not lying. I spent the first 13 years of my life pretending I was someone else and that I wasn’t in the situation I was in. I pretended I had a nice house, money, food. How I longed for anyone else’s life. Anyone’s, as long i was out of that dreadful place. But I got what I wanted didn’t I? For some reason I feel like that’s all going to change soon. Starting tomorrow…

Change it how you want I guess this is just the start
