A researcher is using the pUC18 vector to introduce a human gene into bacteria. He exposes bacteria to this recombinant molecule
allsm [11]

Answer:

The results from this experiment conclude that all of the resulting bacteria contain the pUC18 plasmid without the human gene.

The method of genetic engineering might seem very easy but in actual it is a very difficult task and most of the time a person won;t get the expected results. The chances of a vector to actually take up a recombinant DNA are very less. Even after this, the chances of a recombinant plasmid to enter a bacterial cell by transformation are very few.

Discuss why prokaryotic cells probably appeared before eukaryotic cells
dsp73

Answer:

Prokaryotes are smaller and less developed compared to eukaryotes. Some of them inhabit very primitive environments that resemble earth’s early stages. Endosymbiotic theory states that eukaryotes arose by the endosymbiosis of prokaryotes.

Explanation

By endosymbiont theory, eukaryotic cells arise from prokaryotic cells. Here, the theory shows that eukaryotic ancestors lived in close association with prokaryotes, wherein in some cases, prokaryotes have been engulfed and might have lived inside eukaryotes.

Upon being engulfed by a host cell as undigested prey, these prokaryotes could have been internal parasites of the eukaryotes. But, later on, their relationship becomes mutualistic and these prokaryotes become incorporated as organelles, such as in the case of chloroplasts and mitochondria, which were previously separate prokaryotes

Enzymes are proteins that help increase the rate of chemical reactions inside cells. these proteins are composed of many simpler
Musya8 [376]
The statement that suggests that the shape of an enzyme determines its function, would be the fact that enzymes are specific to certain substrates, depending on the particular shape of an enzyme it can allow binding to specific substrates and allow for catalyzing that corresponding reaction.
