(3) = (2)(2) + b

3 = 4 + b

3-4 = 4-4 + b (to undo addition, you use subtraction so I minus 4 from each side)

-1 = b

we found b so we just take the (2,3) out of the equation substitute the x,y back into the equation

y = 2x - 1
