Answer: Tap the person and ask if they are okay (Option C )

Explanation:

In order to check for consciousness, it basically involves examining a person to conclude if the person is conscious or unconscious. If the person is conscious then you could ask her/him that are you okay?

However, if the person is unconscious you need to check the pulse to check if the heart is beating or not.

To check for one's consciousness, tap the person and ask if they are okay.

Consciousness is the state of being aware of and responsive to one's environment or surroundings.

Further Explanation

This means that two things must be happening if one is still conscious: firstly, he or she must be aware of the environment, secondly, he or she must be in a state whereby he can respond to the environment.

However, if one is not aware or not having the ability to respond to his environment as supposed to, it simply means the person is experiencing unconsciousness; the person is unconscious.

To be unconscious means, to be unresponsive.

These are the various signs an unconscious person can have

 1. Their impulse becomes weak.
 2. They can even stop breathing.
 3. Spinal cord or a part of their bones can be broken.
 4. They could have just fallen from a high positioned surface and so on a so forth.

These are what to do if a person is unconscious.

 1. There are many things you can do to save unconscious person.
 2. Yell and see if the person will respond.
 3. Check if there is no pulse or there is only a weak pulse
 4. check if there person is not breathing.
 5. check if they do not respond or regain consciousness within 1 minute
 6. check if it seems they are severely injured or is bleeding heavily etc
 7. Give the person the first aid treatment where necessary.
 8. Call the medical personnel.

but then, the very first thing to do, is to tap the person and ask if they are okay.
