In the story, Montag discusses some plans he had of printing books and planting some of these in the homes of people. When he discusses this with Faber, Faber's tone could best be described as;

  • C. Petrified

The tone that connotes "being petrified" about something is indicative of a state of nervousness.

So, when Montag discusses some of the radical actions he had in mind, Faber was frightened and nervous.

When he actually carried out his plan of tearing the Bible, Faber was upset and succumbed to the idea of teaching him.

What woman does Paine say has scared the entire English army in the past?
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God. Whether the independence of the continent was declared too soon, or delayed too long, I will not now enter into as an argument; my own simple opinion is, that had it been eight months earlier, it would have been much better.
