What environmental impacts are caused by both surface mining and underground mining? Select the two correct answers.
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

B. local water contamination

D. destruction of ecosystems

Explanation:

The mining, be it a surface one or underground one, has several negative impacts on the surrounding area. Two common negative impacts of both types of mining are contamination of the local waters, as well as the destruction of ecosystems.

The waters get heavily polluted with toxic chemicals pretty much always ad everywhere where there is mining. The main reason for this is that the nus-products from the mining are released into the waters. This causes high level pollution of the waters, thus making it not good for anything, and the aquatic life in the waters dies out rapidly.

The fact that the waters are heavily polluted means that everything that comes in touch with them becomes heavily polluted as well. Also, apart from releasing chemicals in the waters, the mining requires space, so the area is cleared out, and after that lot of toxic material is disposed on it. The majority of the plants can sustain that, so they die out, and since they are the basis of the ecosystems, the animals die out as well.

Why is it cyclones are given female names?
Allisa [31]
I did some research, and I found this: "<span>Since 1953, US started using </span>female<span> names. The practice came to an end in 1979 when the US Natural Weather Service and the World Meteorological Organisation developed a systematic way of naming </span>cyclones<span> in the beginning of the year, alternating male and </span>female<span> names, arranged in an alphabetical order."
Hope this helps you, and happy studying~!

How did differences among Indo European languages in Europe come about
mariarad [96]

Answer:

In addition to genealogical changes, many of the early changes in Indo-European languages can be attributed to language contact. It has been asserted, for example, that many of the more striking features shared by Italic languages (Latin, Oscan, Umbrian, etc.) might well be areal features.

What are sustainable use practices?
kumpel [21]
Sustainable use practices are practices that are used in the use of resources for example that seek to maintain the longevity and continuance of the potential use of that resource. In regards to trees and logging the sustainable use of wood or paper would seek to continue the longevity and vitality of the forests by not overusing these products. Sustainable use will use a resource at a rate that will allow for natural replenishment or incremental use of the resource to prevent harm to the environment and allow the resource to be used far into the future.
