Write a real-life word problem that can be solved using the system of inequalities below. Be sure to define the variables. x + 4

y < 400 x + 6y > 400 Scoring Rubric Scoring Rubric Sample Responses: Two customers each bought the same table and some of the same chairs from a furniture store. The first customer bought 1 table and 4 chairs and spent less than $400. The second customer bought 1 table and 6 chairs and spent more than $400. What could be the price of each chair (y)? Kyle and Jasmine each bought tickets for a concert. Kyle bought 1 student ticket and 4 adult tickets and spent less than $400. Jasmine purchased 1 student ticket and 6 adult tickets and spent more than $400. What could be the price of the adult ticket (y)? Two head coaches bought shirts for their coaching staff. The first coach bought 1 head coach shirt and 4 assistant coach shirts and spent less than $400. The second coach bought 1 head coach shirt and 6 assistant coach shirts and spent more than $400. What could be the price of each assistant coach shirt (y)? Two customers each bought a surround sound system and new movies from an electronic store. The first customer bought the surround sound system and 4 new movies and spent less than $400. The second customer bought the surround sound system and 6 new movies and spent more than $400. What could be the price of each movie (y)? 2 Points The response indicates proficiency in creating real-life word problems that can be represented by given systems of inequalities. The response includes the definition of each variable. The student correctly completes the task. 1 Point The response indicates partial proficiency in creating real-life word problems that can be represented by given systems of inequalities. The student correctly completes the task but makes a minor error. Answers that give a word problem but do not involve a real-life situation receive 1 point. Answers that give a real-life word problem but do not include the definition of each variable receive 1 point. 0 Points The response indicates no proficiency in creating real-life word problems that can be represented by given systems of inequalities. The student shows no understanding of the concept or task. Answers that simply solve the system but do not give a word problem receive 0 points.

Greg and George bought shoes at a local store. Greg bought one dress shoe and 4 sneakers and spent less than $400.

George bought one dress shoe and 6 sneakers and spent more than $400.

Inequality signs < and > denote less than and greater than respectively.

To solve the above inequalities in order to find x and y prices, a pair of solutions will be the result since linear inequalities with two variables will have a range of solutions

In other words, to find x and y for the inequalities we find a point (x,y) that satisfies the inequality.

Example: if the price of a dress shoe is $80 and the price of a sneaker is $60, it satisfies the system of inequalities for Greg and George since their shoe expenses stay below and above $400 respectively.

We could then say that the point (80,60) is one of the solutions to the inequalities.

We could graph the inequalities in order to find points on the graph that satisfy the inequalities. To graph the inequality we make the equation a linear equation x+4y=400 and plot a straight line in accordance to the inequality. All points above the line satisfy George's inequality and vice versa.

What is the perimeter of Triangle XYZ?
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

36

Step-by-step explanation:

From the diagram, the  following is true;

AY = YB = 7

BZ = ZC = 6

XC = XA = 5

perimeter of the triangle is the sum of all the sides

Hence ;

Perimeter = AY+YB+BZ+ZC+XC+XA

Perimeter of the triangle = 7+7+6+6+5+5

Perimeter of the triangle = 36

hence the perimeter of the triangle is 36
