Answer:

2, 8, 4, 16, 12, 30, 26, 50

Step-by-step explanation:

The first is determinate the different (d) between each consecutive value (a_n - a_{n-1}).

8 - 2 = 6\\4 - 8 = -4\\16 - 4 = 12\\12 - 16 = -4\\

How you can see when the position of the number in the sequence is odd you have to sum a number 6x and when the position of the number in the sequence is a even number you have to substract -4.

Why 6x? If you see the first two odd position numbers in the sequence are multiples of 6, then we made the deduction that each time that you sum a number this is a multiply of 6 and -4 is constant for each position even number.

Then for each odd position number in the sequence it's representation is of the form:

a_{n-1} + 6x = a_n

Where a_{n-1} is the number of before, x the odd position of the number in the sequence and a_n is the current value of a_n

So the rest of the sequence is of the next form:

12 + 6(3) = 30

30 -4 = 26

26 + 6(4) = 50

So the final answer is \{30, 26, 50\}

The difference of twice a number and five is three. Find the num
Grace [21]

Answer:

add 5 then multiply by 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Twice a number  is 2n.

The difference of twice a number and five 2n - 5.

The difference of twice a number and five is three. 2n - 5 = 3

2n - 5 = 3

2n - 5 + 5 = 3 + 5     (1) add 5

2n = 8

1/2*2n = 1/2*8    (2) multiply by 1/2

n = 4

The sum of the first 6 terms of a geometric series is
jekas [21]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

The sum to n terms of a geometric sequence is

S_{n} = \frac{a(r^n-1)}{r-1}

where a is the first term and r the common ratio

Here r = 5 and a has to be found, thus

S_{6} = \frac{a(5^6-1)}{5-1}, so

\frac{a(15625-1)}{4} = 15624

Multiply both sides by 4

15624a = 62496 ( divide both sides by 15624

a = 4

Two trains on opposite tracks leave the same station at the same time. One train travels at an average speed of 80 kilometres pe
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

1/3 hr or 20 min.

Step-by-step explanation:

Call the trains A and B

Remember d = rt

Distance train A travels is 80t

Distance train B travels is 70t

Now, 80t + 70t = 50

              150t = 50

                    t = 50/150 = 1/3 hr or 20 min.
