Answer:

The victory of Union at Vicksburg is significant for the North because it helped the North to control the Mississippi River. The siege of Vicksburg occurred after the Battle of Gettysburg, also lost by the confederates (the South). Vicksburg is necessary for Union because it was a river port for the South, through which they were sending supplies in the West. By capturing Vicksburg, the North would isolate the Western rebel states like Taxes, Louisiana, and Arkansas from the South.

Based on the excerpt, which type of government is the city of Springfield using? “weak mayor” mayor-council system “strong mayor
harkovskaia [24]

The correct answer is D) council management system.

The type of government the city of Springfield is using is a council management system.

This system of local government combines the leadership and strong attributes of the officials that have been elected with the experience and knowledge of the local government administration.

The council prefers to hire a professional manager to administrate and supervise how the public services are delivered. The manager can offer recommendations to the council because he has enough experience in the field but the council has the last word.
