Answer:

  2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

The rate of change can be found from the slope formula.

  m = (y2 -y1)/(x2 -x1)

Using the first two lines of the table, we find ...

  m = (23 -18)/(-3 -(-5)) = 5/2

The rate of change of the function is 5/2 = 2.5.

Is 2/3 bigger than 3/5
alina1380 [7]
2/3 is greater than 3/5 because if you cross multiply, you'll get 10 on left side and 9 on the right, which means 3/5 is less than 2/3.

Why do whole numbers rise to an exponent get greater while fractions raise to an exponent get smaller?
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

This is because exponents increase a number, for example 2, and, 2^2 <em>squaring a number is basically multiplying it by itself.</em> So 2 * 2 = 2^2=4. Now obiviously 4 is greater than 2. But lets make the numbers like this:

\frac{1}{2}, and, \frac{1}{2}^2

And again, \frac{1}{2}*\frac{1}{2} = (\frac{1}{2})^2 = \frac{1}{4}

Now, which is bigger \frac{1}{2}or\frac{1}{4}

A quarter is smaller than a half right?

So in this case we can see that fractions raised to an exponent get smaller while numbers raised to an exponent get bigger.
