Louis XIV reformed the French government by establishing absolute monarchy. The French King, advised and supported by his very skillful Prime Minister Richelieu, wanted to have total control of the country without having to respond about his actions to anyone. In his mind his power was supposed to be unlimited and that his word had to be law and obeyed by everyone.

This eventually led to Louis XIV to make reforms in the government of France in accordance to his wishes, thus he made the country an absolute monarchy, making him an absolute monarch.

With this move, Louis XIV managed to strengthen his power and authority a lot. Whatever he said was law, everyone in the country was obliged to listen and obey him, and there was no one that can oppose him lawfully.
