It should be noted that the theme that can be derived in the stories was about how the speakers hid their true identity.

What is a theme?

A theme simply means the central idea that's in a literary work. A theme simply means the main idea in the story that the author wants the readers to know.

In "Jabari Unmasked”, the theme is about how the speaker hid her identity from the world. Also, "We Wear the Mask" was about the lives of African Americans after the Civil War.

In "We Wear the Mask", the author stated that they had to pretend that everything was better and the mental torture that they went through was illustrated.
