Four less than nine times a number is one hundred twenty-two. Find the original number.
Tasya [4]

Answer:

The number is 14

Step-by-step explanation:

Denote the original number by z. The expression "Four less than nine times a number is one hundred twenty-two" can be rewritten in an equation.

Our number is z, then the left hand side of the equation is 9z-4.

The right side of the equation is 122. Then the complete equation is 9z-4=122. Add 4 in both sides to get 9z=122+4=126. Now, divide by 9 in both sides to get z=\frac{126}{9}=14

A basketball player makes 30% of her foul shots. she shoots 5 foul shots. you are interested in the number of shots that she mak

This would be a binomial model, since there is a fixed number of trials, the probabilities are independent and there are only two choices (either the shot is made or missed).

Quick! 8 points! best answer is brainiest!
Novosadov [1.4K]
What I understand from the picture given, she had 2 ribbons with the length of 1/4.
These would be the two shortest ones.
So: 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4
      = 1/2

I hope this helps and I know that it is different to what HimyBrainy put but it is what I understood! :/

Find the measure of the missing side. Round your answer to the nearest tenth. (PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM)
Burka [1]

Answer:

Rounded to the nearest tenth, the length of the missing side is 5.4 in.

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the Pythagorean theorem, a^{2}+b^{2}=c^{2}, where c is the length of the hypotenuse (the longest side), a and b are the lengths of the other two sides. We can use this to solve for the length of the hypotenuse of the right triangle shown in your question (the missing side):

2^{2}+5^{2}=c^{2}

This simplifies to 29=c^{2}. Now to solve for c (the length of the hypotenuse), we just take the square root of both sides of the equation and solve like so:

\sqrt{29} =\sqrt{c^{2}}

This simplifies to c≈5.4 in.
