I cannot explain why D is correct, but I can tell you why the others are wrong.

A: Choice A is a run on sentence. It doesn't have the word "by" between "team...tackling..." If it had the word "by" then it would've been up for consideration, however it would still be wrong since there is no comma to prevent this phrase from becoming a run-on sentence.
