Why did general john j. pershing refuse to allow the aef to serve as "fill in the gaps" of soldiers in europe?
sukhopar [10]
For the answer to the question above, General Pershing also needed to decide whether or not to lend American soldiers to the European allies. When the AEF arrived in Europe, the Allies were exhausted from three years of war. While some American military personnel and European allies wanted Pershing to send American troops to “fill in gaps” in the Allied armies, he established his authority by refusing to do so. He believed the strategy would not work because the training methods used by the U.S. and the Europeans were too different from each other. He also thought that a united American military force would hurt German morale more. Despite opposition, Pershing stood firm in his decision.

I NEED HELP
Rudiy27

Answer:

My Memoir of World War II

These turbulent times during the war were life changing to say the least. Countless things went wrong for these events to have lasted for so long and destroyed so many lives. There were bad intentions coming from Germany post world war 1 already. They had been directly attacked and became economically devastated. With official Adolf Hitler gaining higher status and more power, promising dreams and solutions for the people, that would not be completed as Hitler had other wicked plans. This second world war was initiated in Europe when Adolf Hitler and his army invaded Poland in 1939, soon after agreeing to a nonaggression pact with the Soviet Union; this pact just secretly excluded the fact that “Poland was to be partitioned between the two powers, enabled Germany to attack Poland without the fear of Soviet intervention,” as stated by the Holocaust Encyclopedia website. In response to German aggression, Great Britain and France declared war on Nazi Germany.

Since the Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931, there had been conflict and battles in Asia. There had been war between the Chinese and the Japanese from as early as 1937. By 1941, the United states has just entered ww2, as the Japanese fleet surprise attacked the U.S. fleet in Pearl Harbor, which caused the U.S. to retaliate by attacking Japan’s mainland. The first major naval engagement was at the Battle of Coral Sea, then the first Japanese naval loss since 1863 at the Battle of Midway, which was a significant American victory. The war finally ended in May of 1945 after various casualties. Soviet troops retook Vienna and Berlin, guerilla fighters killed Mussolini, and this led Germany to surrender when Hitler killed himself.

Overall, this war costed more than billions of dollars, but millions of lives. World War II fatality statistics state that an estimated 70-85 million civilians, soldiers, and family members died because of this destruction over six years. This war left the nations to recover and rebuild and learn from the mistakes that happened to make sure this rise of hatred and power is never to occur again.
