It is compound that is formed from a glycerol molecule and three molecules of fatty acid. It is synthesized by the reaction dehydration synthesis wherein water is the by-product of the process. The -OH from the functional group of glycerol are detached and the fatty acids would attach to it forming the triglyceride.
