The original U.S. voting system had some similarities with that of Athens. In Athens, every citizen could speak his mind and vote at a large assembly that met to create laws. Citizens were elected to special councils to serve as organizers, decision-makers, and judges.

In the minds of many Americans, the Marshall Plan pitted capitalism against which of the following?

Answer choices

a. Agrarianism

b. Anarchism

c. Communism

d. Libertarianism

Answer:

c. Communism

Explanation:

The Marshall plan was a recovery program in Europe that was approved and signed by President Harry .S. Truman on the 3rd of April, 1948.

The Marshall plan contained plans and programs to provide aid for countries in Europe such as Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, West Germany and Norway after the end of World War II.

The aid was targeted at the rebuilding of buildings, Industries, revival of agriculture in these European countries that had already been damaged during the war because the recovery of this nations from the war would also help Europe as a whole to recover very faster as well as economically.

The Marshal plan was created by the United States Secretary of State, George Marshall and this plan was to last for 4 years with a possibility for renewal.

The Marshall plan also intended to stop any form of hindrances in trade amongst the Europeans and allowed easier trade between these countries and the United States.

In the minds of many Americans the Marshall plan pitted capitalism against communism because the Marshall plan was created to put a stop to communism in Europe because the Soviets which practised had already take over Central and Eastern Europe.

Communism was a state of government whereby there is no personal ownership of properties as things was shared amongst the people collectively. This opposed Democracy.

Any where their were signs of communism in Central and Eastern Europe, the United States of American sent aid there as an humanitarian act and this helped to reduce Communism in those areas.
