The skeletal muscle is one of the three types of muscle in the organism. Option a) is correct. From smallest to largest, the parts of a skeletal muscle are Myofilament, sarcomere, myofibril, muscle fiber, fascicle, muscle.

The skeletal muscle

 • It is the most abundant muscle in vertebrates, constituting the somatic musculature.

 • Among its many functions, it proportionates motion to extremities and digits and is responsible for the position and posture of the individual. It also participates in eye movements, respiration, mastication, deglutition, and phonation.

 • The skeletal muscle contracts voluntarily, and its response is fast.

 • Cells composing the striated muscle are significantly longer and multinucleated. They arrange in bundles, where cells are parallel to each other.

Composition of skeletal muscle

 • Myofilaments ⇒ Actine and miosine

 • Sarcomere ⇒ It is the functional unit with the contractile apparatus. Composed of the Z band, A and I bands, and H zone.

 • Myofibrilles ⇒ They have the Functional units

 • Muscle fibers ⇒ Surrounded by endomysium

 • Fascicle ⇒ Group of fibers surrounded by perimysium.

 • Muscle ⇒ Group of fascicles surrounded by epimysium.

Hence, the correct option is a). From smallest to largest, the parts of a skeletal muscle are Myofilament, sarcomere, myofibril, muscle fiber, fascicle, muscle.

Suppose the femur bone of an animal has 1,000 atoms of carbon-14 when the animal dies. How many atoms of carbon 14 will be prese
shtirl [24]

Answer:

After 6000 years, approximately 500 atoms of carbon-14 will be left in the femur bone of an animal which had 1000 atoms of carbon-14 when the animal died.

Explanation:

The half-life of a radioactive isotope of an element is the time taken for half the atoms present in a given amount of the element to undergo decay or disintegration. For example, the half-life of carbon-14 isotope is 5730 years. This means that, if there are 100 atoms of carbon-14 present in a given sample of a material, in the next 5730 years, approximately, 50 atoms of carbon-14 will be left in the material.

Since the half-life of radioactive isotopes are constant, these radioactive isotopes are used in the determining the ages of ancient life-forms as well as rocks.

In the given example, after 6000 years, approximately 500 atoms of carbon-14 will be left in the femur bone of an animal which had 1000 atoms of carbon-14 when the animal died.

small group of 100 people decide to isolate themselves from the world and move to a small and remote deserted island. Out of thi
irina [24]

Answer:

Frequency of p = 0.684

Frequency of p = 0.316

Number of individuals with homozygous dominant (AA) = 47

Number of individuals with heterozygous (Aa)= 43

Number of individuals with homozygous recessive (aa) = 10

Explanation:

Out of 100 people, 10 have albino skin (aa)

So, the frequency of homozygous recessive individuals (q^{2}) is \frac{10}{100} = 0.1

Now, q will be

= \sqrt{q^{2} } = \sqrt{0.1} \\= 0.316

As per Hardy Weinberg's equation -

p + q = 1

Substituting the value of q in above equation, we get -

p + 0.316 = 1p = 1 -0.316\\p = 0.684

Now the frequency of homozygous dominant (AA) will be

p^{2} = 0.684^{2} \\= 0.467

Hence, out of 100 people 0.467 * 100 = 46.7 or 47 people are homozygous dominant (AA)

Like wise out of 100 people 0.1 * 100 = 10 people are homozygous recessive (aa)

As per As per Hardy Weinberg's equation-

p^{2} + q^{2} + 2pq = 1\\

Substituting the values in above equation, we get -

0.467 + 0.316 + 2pq = 1\\2pq = 1 -( 0.467+ 0.1)\\2pq = 0.433

So, out of 100 people 0.433 * 100 = 43.3 or 43 people are heterozygous (Aa)
