A student placed a disk of filter paper in each of the following solutions: disinfectant 1, disinfectant 2, disinfectant 3, and

distilled water. While the four disks were soaking in their respective solutions, she streaked a sterile nutrient agar dish with a culture of E. coli bacteria. Then, she placed each disk carefully onto the nutrient agar dish, placed the lid on the dish, taped it shut, and incubated the dish at 37°C for several days. The diagram shows how the nutrient agar dish looked on Day 1 and Day 4. The shaded portion of the plate on day 4 indicates the bacterial growth. Look at the dishes in the diagram. Which disinfectant was the most effective at controlling the growth of E. coli? A. Disinfectant 2 B. Disinfectant 1 C. Distilled water D. Disinfectant 3

I found the exercise on the internet. Attached is the diagram of the observed results.
Correct answer: "B. Disinfectant 1"
As shown in the diagram, the whole dish was plenty of E. coli. The only areas that did not have bacterial growth were those around the disks soaked in disinfectant 1 and disinfectant 3. However, the diameter of the area around the disk soaked in disinfectant 1 was the largest, meaning that this disinfectant had the most effective power at controlling the growth of E. coli.

What is the difference between inorganic and organic compounds?
Artemon [7]

Answer:

The main difference is in the presence of a carbon atom; organic compounds will contain a carbon atom (and often a hydrogen atom, to form hydrocarbons), while almost all inorganic compounds do not contain either of those two atoms. Meanwhile, inorganic compounds include the salts, metals, and other elemental compounds.

The fluid that enters vertebrate nephrons is called the filtrate. What is the source of the filtrate
Alecsey [184]

the source of the filtrate is Loop of Henle.

The Henle loop is surrounded by tissue fluid with a high ion concentration. Osmosis causes water to move out of the descending limb. As a result of the more concentrated filtrate, ions move out of the loop in the thin ascending limb.

The nephron consists of a single long tubule and a ball of capillaries called the glomerulus. Using hydrostatic pressure, plasma is forced through the walls of the glomerulus, becoming filtrate as it crosses, and then collecting within Bowman's capsule. The fluid that enters vertebrate nephrons is called the filtrate.

Which part of the nephron is called the loop of Henle?

A million nephrons are the filtering units of the human kidney, which is a complex and highly vascular organ. Each filters water and solutes from the blood that flows through it into the surrounding space and is the cavity between the cup's walls. The other part resembles a U-shaped loop that transports the filtered fluid deep into the medulla.

Functions of Nephron

The primary function of the Nephron is to flush out waste products from the blood, which include solid waste and other excesses. This blood is transformed into urine through secretion and excretion.

The nephron, a basic structural unit of the kidney, is a microscopic structure composed of a renal corpuscle and a renal tubule.
