This was a campaign carried out in the summer of 1964 on the initiative of the SNCC and the Council of Federated Organizations in the state of Mississippi to get as many blacks as possible on the voting polls, as at the time the percentage of black voters registered in Mississippi was only 6.7%, being the lowest of all the southern states.
